* Dissolve 5 teaspoons of sodium bisulphite in 1 cup (8 ounces) of water to make "bisulphite solution."
ON MAKING AND USING SULFITE (SULPHITE) SOLUTION
We make a distinction between using powdered sodium (or potassium) bisulphite and a sulfite solution. Please be aware of this difference as it will affect your winemaking process. Dissolve 5 teaspoons of sodium or potassium bisulphite powder into 1 cup (8 ounces) of water to make the bisulphite solution. Of this liquid, you add one liquid teaspoon per gallon of must (unfermented juice) when directed. Use 1 to 2 teaspoons of liquid solution per gallon of water to sanitize equipment.

Carboy 5 Gallon Glass $ 29.95
5 Gal Glass Carboy-use No.6.5 bung or universal drilled stopper.
NOTE: Glass carboy comes with mineral water
A carboy is a glass container ideally suited for making wine. Typically, they come in sizes of two, three, five, six, and seven and a half gallons (7.5) --with a five gallon being the "standard" size. Containers larger than seven and a half gallons are too heavy for most to easily work with, or lift. Carboys have a very narrow "neck" and a narrow opening that allows for insertion of a stopper and air-lock.
It is important to use a glass container during the secondary fermentation, as glass does not absorb air. Plastic containers absorb air--which can cause the wine to oxidize and possible go bad. In addition, glass does not become stained by the wine (as plastic may), and cleans up extremely easily. For the beginner (or even expect wine maker), glass carboys are the ideal container of choice for small batches of wine.
The 4 in 1 Carboy Shield # 5165 $ 8.00
Carboy Brew Hauler #5168 $13.00
This handy item helps to move carboys with ease Ö
The Brew Hauler - Nylon Strap Carboy Handle. This strap type carboy carrier will adjust to fit a 3 gallon to 6.5 gallon glass and PET carboys. The straps are long enough so you will not have to bend completely over to move the carboy. The long straps allow you to keep your back almost straight. In addition, the strap handles also has a short handle inserted at a lower point that will allow you to lift the carboy up to table height. Made of sturdy polypropylene webbing and can support about 100 lbs.
The Brew Belt - Thermostat Controlled - Fermenting Brewing Belt
#5008 $23.90
Designed to wrap around most primary fermenters (up to 10 gallon) or secondary fermenters and carboys. Even fits the V-Vessel. Heats at a constant 75° F. Great for winter time basement brewing and wine making. The manufacturer states they should not be used on glass but our experienced brewers have had no problems with glass carboys in good condition (no cracks). Some key product notes are: The lower the belt is positioned on the fermenting container the higher the must temperature will rise. The belt should not be left plugged in for more then 8 days in a row. It should not (and really doesn't need to be) used in room temperatures above 75-80 degrees F. The must or wort temperature should be monitored daily. Do not cover the belt with a blanket or wrap it and use it away from flammable material. Works great in cool climates!
Bucket Only 6.5 Gallon Primary (Wire Handle) $12.30
Food grade bucket only with bail handle. 6.5 gallon (when filled to top rim). These buckets are printed with Ale Pail and the design incorporates a sheaf & grapevine crest in black with Ale Pail scripted in Olde English and printed in red. It is a very sharp, eye-catching design. Great for primary fermenting of wine!

HYDROMETER #5451 $7.00
The hydrometer is a calibrated cylindrical glass "rod" that is used to measure the sugar content of wine (or the must). The rod is floated in a test-tube containing the wine or must. As the density or specific gravity of the liquid varies with the sugar content, the buoyancy, or how the hydrometer will float in the wine or must will vary according to the amount of sugar. The more sugar in the wine or must, the higher the rod will float. The cylindrical glass rod contains markings along the glass rod for measuring the sugar content. Often the glass rods will contain makings to measure in one of several units-- Specific Gravity, Brix or Balling, or potential alcohol by volume.
